Ruy Lopez Exchange

White's complete intermediate repertoire in the Ruy Lopez Exchange Variation (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Bxc6). Seven drills cover the main 5.O-O dxc6 line with d4 break, the Bronstein pin with ...Bg4, Lasker's 5.Nc3 system, the 4...bxc6 sideline, 5...Qd6 solid setup, the 5...Bd6 Steinitz, and the 6...Bg4 trade tension.

The Ruy Lopez Exchange (4.Bxc6) is Bobby Fischer's pet weapon — voluntarily trading the prized bishop pair for a permanent structural edge. By doubling Black's c-pawns, White creates a 4-vs-3 kingside majority that can produce a passed pawn in the endgame, while Black's queenside majority is crippled by the doubled pawns and can never produce one. This pack delivers a complete intermediate White repertoire across the seven principled Black replies: the main 5.O-O f6 6.d4 break with the queen trade, Bronstein's tricky 5...Bg4 met by h3/c3 and the Nf1-g3 maneuver, Lasker's 5.Nc3 quick development, the 4...bxc6 sideline punished with d4/Qxd4, the solid 5...Qd6 met with d3 and the Nbd2-c4 plan, the Steinitz-style 5...Bd6 with the same d4 break, and the 6...Bg4 trade attempt. Thirty exam positions sharpen the key decisions — when to capture on c6, how to time the d4 break, when to trade queens, and how to convert the kingside majority — so every Black move has a prepared, technical White answer.
